David Ballard spent 29 years in public education teaching high school mathematics. He poured many extra hours and personal resources into developing curriculum, writing textbooks, and creating teaching videos to help increase his students’ success. The Algebra I program that he developed, along with the increase in his students’ performance, drew the attention of many and led to numerous local, state, and national awards. David was selected as local Teacher of the Year three times and was named the statewide Texas Rural Educator of the Year. On the national level, David was nominated for the President of the United States Mathematics Award and he and his Algebra I program received the national “Reaching AT+Promise Students Association” Award for best practices.
